Testimonial for Lynne Scott 2025

I highly recommend Lynne Scott for P.T. and/or small group exercise. She offers ideas to address physical concerns from feet to head (and everything in between!). With her combination of smiling encouragement, knowledge, and guidance, my body is gaining strength and flexibility.

I was very hesitant to start, but she has steadily cheered me on and gone at a pace that works for me — each week pushing me (but not too much!) to do more than I could the week before. She listens to what matters to me and helps me move forward — literally!

Yours sincerely,
Jean McElhaney

Testimonial for Lynne Scott  – 2025 – P.T. and Small Group Training

As a soon to be 80 year old, joining Lynne one year ago for a Private One-on-One session and then adding a Small Group Training, I’m so impressed with the difference Lynne’s expertise has made to my sense of wellbeing. After only one year I am stronger and more flexible. Amazing considering I had never exercised nor played sport. I tell people Lynne is a skeletal muscular specialist like no other. She knows exactly how to target specific exercises to my body and I have never left a session feeling other than great. I highly recommend Lynne to anyone who wants to heal their body and go from strength to strength.

Thank you Lynne,

Dianne

Testimonial for Lynne 2025 – Personal Training and Small Group Training

My name is Tania, I have been doing personal training and small group classes with Lynne Scott for 5 years now, I have never looked back. She has an unbelievable amount of knowledge, safety is paramount and I have never hurt myself. Lynne knows her stuff! She can change any move to suit me.

My pain has reduced significantly and I now know how to deal with my pain points if I have a little niggle that arises. I know what to do when I travel long distances to release any tension in my muscles. Through her correct exercises, I am guided with easy suggestions to follow to keep strong. I sent Lynne a message many years ago (6th May 2022) looking back, I thought to share.

Good evening Lynne,
I’m standing at my kitchen sink doing the dinner dishes and thinking to myself how wonderful you are. You are so good at what you do. Thank you for your knowledge, understanding and caring way you guide me through exercise. I have never felt embarrassed or uncomfortable in all our sessions. I super appreciate your acknowledgment of special physical issues specific to women and mum’s too  – you are a star! Thank you Lynne.
Yours sincerely,
Tania Davey

The Body Tonic Group – Small Group and Personal Training 2025

When I first started training with Lynne 12 months ago, I hadn’t been exercising (apart from walking) for around four years and was struggling with a shoulder injury.

We began with some personal training sessions where Lynne assessed my movement and helped me with rehab for my shoulder as well as improving my balance, flexibility and strength. After 6 weeks, I felt confident enough to join one of her small group sessions. Lynne really knows how to keep these sessions interesting and motivating.

Thanks to Lynne’s expert knowledge and personalised approach, I’ve now regained strength and mobility in my shoulder and have seen significant improvements in my balance, flexibility, and overall strength.

I highly recommend Lynne to anyone looking to recover from an injury or simply improve their physical wellbeing in a supportive and knowledgeable environment.

Lynne
You & I have become good friends. It’s amazing how much can be shared between exercises, often after you’ve done hectic exercises with me & are allowing me to regroup.

I’m so grateful that you said you could help me. 5 months on, I’m well on my way to recovery. I was a mess when you reviewed me in Nov 2024 but you knew how you could work with my incorrect gait, my knee replacements, my stooped posture & real back/ hip pain.

I’m on my way to getting my life back & building physical strength again. Thank you that you work with my unique issues & I know that I’m safe in your hands.

I’m now receiving positive comments from friends who can see the difference.

Many thanks
Lyn

I elected to undergo a pre-emptive heart by-pass operation in early 2021.
Lynne Scott has been my wife’s personal trainer for some time, and I decided to visit her to see what services she could provide to me both before and after the procedure.

Before the Procedure
Lynne taught me how to get off chairs in the correct manner to ensure that I did not use my arms which is really important during the healing process for my sternum.
Most importantly, she fore warned me of the importance of learning how to exit the hospital bed and post release from hospital without involving my arms. This is so important, and the hospital nurses were impressed at my ability. Usually this procedure is very hard for a patient who has not prepared beforehand, and will require assistance form nursing staff every time a patient has to exit the bed, or sit up. It also boosted my well-being and confidence as it definitely aided my recovery and expedited my release date from hospital.

Post procedure/recovery phase
I have been using Lynne’s services on a weekly basis to rebuild my lost strength and flexibility in a safe manner.

I have found her an excellent listener and very aware of the exercises that are required to bring my body back to better than before! Her knowledge of the human body is impressive and she screens her clients very carefully to ensure she can assist without risk of harm. She has worked on a very broad range of patients who want to improve their fitness and mobility.

I highly recommend her professional services.

I first met Lynne Scott 2 years ago after my youngest son was diagnosed with Grade 2 isthmic spondylolisthesis.

He was an extremely athletic boy, who excelled at all sports. Particularly golf and hockey, which were his life. Overnight his entire world was turned upside down. Not only could he no longer play any of the sports he loved, but he had to make an entire lifestyle adjustment. He had constant back pain to varying degrees and there was no cure. He had to manage his risks until such time as his condition deteriorated and he would need back surgery.

Lynne has been phenomenal. She adapted one of her manuals to meet my son’s specific needs. She drew up an exercise and meal plan for him. She then worked with him on an individual basis to teach him how to do the necessary exercise to strengthen his core without causing further damage.

Lynne has also done therapeutic massage when my sons back become especially painful. I cannot recommend Lynne more highly. She has given us hope. She is an extremely caring, compassionate person who goes to great lengths to help others. She is incredibly knowledgeable in her field. She has helped us, were no one else could.

Should you wish to contact me as a reference.

Following a hip replacement, I have been seeing Lynne Scott for the past two months (after an initial recovery period of 8 weeks).  Lynne is very knowledgeable in what moves are “safe” as part of my rehabilitation, listens to any concerns I have and modifies the exercises as required.  Lynne observed my movements when I first saw her and guided me on adjusting actions which were a “hangover” from the period prior to my hip replacement. I have found the strength and movement in the hip and surrounding muscles has improved markedly combining my weekly one-on-one sessions with Lynne alongside physio sessions.  Lynne is a very caring personal trainer and puts the welfare of her clients first and foremost. I highly recommend Lynne to anyone recovering from injury or surgical procedures.

May 2021

At the age of 34 I developed lower backaches and hip pains, especially at night causing me significant sleep depravation.

After many Gp visits to no avail, I went to a specialist physician who could not find anything wrong with me.
I then went on to an orthopaedic surgeon who told me that I had slight degeneration of lumbar discs, but that this was normal for anyone my age and that my level of degeneration should not cause me any pain. He said all I could do was take pain killers and avoid lifting heavy weights for the rest of my life, so this is what I did for the next 25 years or so.

I tried to manage my pain with regular massages, physios, osteopaths and chiropractors as I was not keen to be on ibuprofen all the time. I changed my exercise regime from aerobic workouts to aqua aerobics on the advice of a physio for a while, but it did not really make a difference. The pain seemed to get worse with certain daily activities like walks. I decided to see another orthopaedic surgeon and he suggested that I have a cortisone injection into the hip joint, but that this does not work for every body and that if it works, it only lasts for a certain amount of time. My choice was not to have this injection, so I continued as I had done before.

At some point, my lower backache improved, but my hips continued to bother me and about 3 years ago the pain spread to my groin area to the point that I was not getting good sleep at all and painkillers did not work with this groin pain.

All X-rays and MRI scans that I’ve had done through the past 28 years did not show anything that could warrant this level of pain.
2 years ago I was diagnosed with a uterine prolapse which meant that I had to change how I exercised.

I chose Lynne as my personal trainer because she is trained in how to exercise correctly with prolapses. What I did not expect was to become pain free! I started with Lynne in April 2019 and as my strength improved and she advised me on the stretches that I should do before bed, I noticed that my groin pain subsided first and then also my hip pains. This was a very gradual process. It took about 2 years to be able to sleep without any pain. I hardly take painkillers now 3 years on and I’m thrilled with the results! I feel better now at 62 than I did even before the age of 34 when my pain  woes started!

I started with Lynne doing remedial massage therapy, which ‘fixed’ my shoulder after 9 months of constant pain, being unable to sleep and move my arm with ease. I had other treatments which did not work. Knowing her professionalism, dedication and understanding of the body, I decided to book in for her exercise consultations – this was the game changer! I learnt so much, I decided to join her small group classes. I have never done movements and exercises like this before, even after years of going to various commercial gyms and booking in for different types of classes. Lynne’s exercises are uplifting and her technique gives the best results. The exercises are helping me with work with ease. (I sit in front of a computer all day). My pelvic floor & core is stronger, I have lost weight and I am more flexible! It is an incredible combo! I cannot recommend Lynne enough!
Thank you Lynne for all your knowledge and support.

I have done training with Lynne for many years. I have found her large group to be fun and encouraging, small groups are intimate and challenging and personal training is focused and life-changing. I am always astounded at the depth of Lynne’s knowledge and experience and touched by how deeply she cares about her client’s well-being. Her skills and wisdom cannot be exaggerated. Many thanks, Lynne.

In my mid-seventies there I was again in a moon boot and on crutches having fallen yet again. I decided I either had to buy a couple of sticks for stability or do something. I “did” something – I went to Lynne.
The first two incredible successes for me where when after only a couple of weeks I could actually just stand up out of an armchair. Previously I had to wriggle to the front of the chair and launch myself up using my arms.
The second was after 5 weeks. If I knelt down in the middle of a room, I had to crawl to a sofa to haul myself up by my arms. I was able to get up without any other help. I can also now crouch and then stand – previously another thing I couldn’t do. I felt energised and the weight starts to fall off.
Everyone noticed the difference in me. It has transformed my life.

Thank you, Lynne.

I have been having Personal Training with Lynne since the end of 2019.

I was referred to Lynne by a friend who couldn’t have been more positive about her. I injured my back lifting my Labrador into the car and was having ongoing issues. Lynne is an incredible teacher who is always very careful to prevent injuries and strengthen my areas of concern. I have never liked running or ‘jiggling’ exercises, but during my sessions, I am developing strength and tone, and I know that I am progressing.

As a qualified massage therapist, Lynne will also release my tight muscles and trigger points when she sees them. I love my sessions and look forward to going. I just wish that I could go every day!

Charmaine Connolly

I have been fortunate to have a massage with The Body Tonic Group under Lynne.  I had extreme pain from recent chronic migraine headaches, anyone that is a sufferer will know the tense muscles around the head, neck and down the back are not to be sneezed at.  With gentle manipulation and a caring touch, Lynne had eased my pain within the set time frame of my visitation.  My pain levels were lowered considerably and I was able to move around a lot more freely than before attending her session.  Thank you, Lynne, for helping me, I certainly wouldn’t have been able to go to work the next day, but you made that possible for me and I’m very grateful indeed.

Nina Tschumi

Early in the year 2020, I injured my shoulder, by falling off my skateboard. After many appointments going to physiotherapists and doctors; I had no relief. My pain was constant, I was living with this gnawing pain and almost resigned myself to this way of living. I remembered one day, that Lynne mentioned to me, “Why don’t you try my remedial massage?”. At first, I thought “that would be nice, but would it solve my issue?”. I gave it a try, and in the end, I GOT MY LIFE BACK! No pain, no more pain killers, no more complaints. Lynne is simply amazing and I highly recommend her!
What you have done for me Lynne, I thank you!

After having 2 kids, both delivered via c-section, I knew I needed to start working on my own health and fitness. I just didn’t know where to begin! My husband had been encouraging me to work with a personal trainer for a while, but I was apprehensive and nervous – I was sure that my body would not be able to cope working out in a “gym” setting, with weights and equipment. I was really worried that I wasn’t going to be able to cope and this would be another failed attempt at getting on top of my own health and wellbeing.

I’ve now been working with Lynne for just a little over 6 months and am loving it. I’m far from my overall health and fitness goals but what Lynne has helped me achieve is a sense of happiness with my own body. Lynne has shown me that I can actually work out with weights and gym equipment, and I’m so pleased to say that I’m stronger than I realised! I love the feeling I get when I realize I can do something I wasn’t able to do a few weeks ago!

As well as the great workouts and seeing my physical self -improving, Lynne is also a great person to talk to. She is so empathetic, understanding and has such a wonderful perspective on things. I look forward to our catch-ups and the time just flies by.

For anyone who has been toying with the idea of starting personal training but maybe you’ve been a bit apprehensive, I can’t encourage you enough to just give it a go. You’ll be blown away by what you can do and your future self will thank you for it!

Margaret Wright

My name is Margaret Wright. I am 74 and I attended a workshop taken by Lynne and was so impressed by her presentation and exercises that I became one of her clients and have been under her supervision for 3 years.
I have gained strength, flexibility and balance and this has given me the confidence to undertake many activities I could not do before.

Lynne has vast experience and understanding of how the human body works, and a unique understanding of the level that each individual can work with safety. Lynne is also a trained and expert masseur who understands how to relieve the body of pain with the use of massage.

I have had symptoms of sinus which have been amazingly relieved by a facial massage given by Lynne.

Lynne is always very encouraging and understands those times when I am struggling with things going on in my life, and she has a good sense of wisdom and advice to help me through.

I can highly recommend Lynne as a caring, experienced and talented personal trainer, masseur and mentor.

Steve Laurenson

I started training with Lynne about two years ago with a view to Get my body moving well again. I wanted to get movement and gain strength, in my core and back. My background was as a runner, so I had a bunch of complaints, aches and pains all centered around my back and core. I was reasonably stable and strong in a traditional sense (standing tall, straight line) as I’d been a runner and going to the gym using weights etc. But I was really bad as soon as you asked me to turn or bend or twist.

Hamstrings were as tight as a guitar string, I had a rounded back and hunched shoulders from a lot of desk/computer work and driving for work. SO I had a lot of remedial work to do to straighten up and get flexible.

So I had heard about Lynne and the great stuff she was doing and after a consult, I signed up. I am doing two sessions a week, one is a PT session and we work on my remedial exercises, which involves a lot of stretching, and exercises focused on posture correction. The other is a small group, (4 of us), and is a mix of stretching, strength and cardio.

After a few weeks, I could feel the gains, I could do the exercises without thinking I was going to snap, and I could feel the strength in the right areas building.  Being honest with yourself about timing, was important for me – as this was a real change and was the long game.

Six Months in and I was stretching well, my body/mind knew how to carry out the moves (not bad for an almost old bugger), and I was getting stronger and stronger.  My posture is improving and I can do a lot more physically due to the changes.

I am really happy to tell my story and also recommend and provide a testimonial for Lynne Scott and the Body Tonic Group.

Lynne has a wonderful positive bubbly personality, and is very generous with her time and advice, and is a joy to be with as my Personal trainer and more. She has a well set up studio so that everything is available for any exercise. Her knowledge is vast – built up over many years of experience AND training. She knows the body, knows what is needed and has a huge range of exercise options in her repertoire for anyone’s needs. Lynne is also very caring, and is always very careful to make sure you are exercising safely and not going to hurt yourself.

Lynne is also trained in sports massage, which i can say – “works a treat”. Don’t expect soft lights and meditation, but expect massage to lengthen the muscles, un-knot the knots, and release the spasming muscle. I might find the actual massage painful (at times) but I feel so much better and able to move afterwards.

I enjoy my PT sessions as we work on my specific issues, and I really enjoy the banter and fun of the group session I come to. This is a seriously good option for anyone looking to improve their body – movement, strength, and cardio.

One of Lynne’s specialities is working with people (e.g. who have had injuries) to get them moving again, and back into the lives they had before their ailments. While I don’t fall into that category – I have seen the great results she has achieved with other people in the group.

I am a fan. I can’t really say much more, but I’m really happy to give verbal confirmation to anyone who wants to chat

I have been with Lynne for my rehab post knee surgery for 8 months as I wasn’t getting anywhere with physiotherapists, they couldn’t help me for two and a half years before that.

My improvement encompasses mobility, flexibility, stretching, and getting stronger.
This strengthens my ability to move with daily tasks.
Lynne creates programmes to suits individual needs.
This has reduced my chronic leg pain further with deep therapy massages via my shoulders, neck, back and calf muscles.

I have no hesitation in recommending Lynne’s services.

About 18 months ago, I enrolled with Lynne with a pretty decrepit body. I was very stiff, had difficulty in walking any distance and lacked general mobility or energy.
In the ensuing 18 months under Lynne’s guidance and encouragement, I’ve progressed leaps and bounds. I am, now, much more flexible, able to walk easier and am beginning some strength training. All in all, I feel a lot better.

Lynne’s method is to progressively push you to higher levels of achievement without breaking your spirit.  Lynne has a sympathetic nature and a good sense of humour.

Ok – it’s official. You’re a genius. Woke up feeling sore. Went to gym feeling sore. Walked miserably on a treadmill for 20 minutes – body aching and sore. Then I thought stuff it – I’m going to get a mat in the corner and try some of Lynne’s stretches, and 20 minutes later I bounced out of the gym, went shopping, came home and as I was unpacking the groceries, I noticed that the pain had gone. And it was your amazing stretches! I am going to make up a workout sheet that you gave me and do them diligently every day for three months. It has completely relaxed my hip flexor – I am soooooo thrilled. Thanks again Lynne – you are so gifted!

Love Gail

I’d like to take this opportunity to let you know I’ve really enjoyed your classes. I definitely noticed a difference in my level of strength, even after only a few short months.  You have restored my faith in my ability to take a fitness class without injuring myself!

Many thanks again.

Nadia Casey

I have done some form of exercise all my life, but I had been noticing that my body was getting more stiff and I was getting pain in my hips and groin area after long walks or certain exercises.

The pain would come mainly during the night, especially in the early hours of the morning, resulting in tossing and turning and therefore lack of sleep.

My left hip had been giving me trouble for 25 years and was always worse, although both my glutes and groin area were stiff and hurting even during the day at times, especially going up stairs. I was managing it all by regular massage, taking ibuprofen and avoiding certain activities.

I had not been able to sit cross-legged for at least 15 years. May body lacked strength in general and I was very aware that my core was very weak, sometimes resulting in lower back pain, if I overdid activities like light gardening.

With Lynne’s guidance, I’ve come a long way and seen huge improvements in last 4 month’s. I feel much stronger in general and I have more energy. General stiffness has reduced a lot.

The pain at night has reduced in intensity and also in frequency to about 2 nights a week, instead if every night and so I’m sleeping much better.

When I do get some discomfort it is only in my left hip and groin area, so it’s still my weak point, but not anywhere as weak as it was before.

I can now sit cross-legged for a few minute’s. The numbers of reps I can do has improved tremendously. Lynne has shown me some stretches to do at home to manage the pain.

Lynne has shown me some stretches to do at home to manage the pain.

When I saw Lynne’s ad, it seemed to me that she was very well qualified in the areas that I needed and although, I’ve been anti-personal trainers, I’m happy to say that I thoroughly enjoy my work outs with Lynne.

My only regret is that I did not find her sooner! Lynne keeps the sessions interesting and varied. No one session is the same.

Lynne is very supportive, encouraging, caring, knowledgeable and thorough. We have lots of laughs too! She always goes the extra mile. I always leave the session feeling great! I cannot recommend Lynne highly enough!

Hi Lynne

When I first joined your classes, probably close to 3 years ago, I knew I was starting with an issue on my pelvic floor.  With your guidance and continual commitment in tweaking your exercises for my body, I managed to dodge surgery.  For those three years instead of having to have surgery straight away – you helped me buy some time.  I became so much stronger and toned that I felt really confident in myself almost forgetting that I even had a pelvic floor issue.

Recently, I couldn’t deter the surgery anymore, but was grateful that I had scored the previous three years already.  I had major surgery done (pelvic floor repair, sacro spinours colpopexy, cystoscopy and enterocoele repair), which took me out of my busy life schedule for 8 weeks and I was not able to drive, exercise, shop or do housework!  By listening to my doctor’s orders I could ensure a speedy recovery and alleviate any further surgery.

Lynne has been incredible on my return to her classes.  She has eased me into the moves by guiding me through each stage.  This has been unbelievably frustrating on my part as the body always remembers what it used to be able to do and clearly this was not going to happen over night for me.

Lynne’s ‘eagle eye’ has certainly given me the confidence in establishing my mojo again.  I take my hat off to her, it really couldn’t have been easy to tweak so many moves in our sessions and making sure that my surgery has not been destroyed at all.

It’s been three months after my surgery now.  I’m still on the recovery cycle for the next 6 – 12 months, but my strength is climbing day by day.  I know exactly what I can and can’t do in class, at home and at work, thanks to Lynne who has been guiding me so carefully.

Lynne, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your commitment and dedication in getting me on back on track again in such a short time.  We still have a long way to go in getting my core strength back.

Your patience has been amazing which I’m truly grateful for.  Every class I have is appreciated, to me it means growth, strength, a healthy body and a clear mind.

Thank you again.

I have been having personal training classes with Lynne for almost a year .I had been experiencing back pain and sciatica for several months, when I saw her advertising in the local newsletter.

I have found the stretching and exercises Lynne has shown me have helped immensely. My suppleness has also improved a great deal.

I had tried gym memberships, but did not enjoy that environment.  I had also tried group Yoga classes but invariably found I was not doing the exercises correctly and would be in pain the next day.

Lynne always takes care that I do the exercises correctly so as not to cause any further strains.

I look forward to Lynne’s classes each week.

I came to Lynne for mainly one thing… my legs… they were getting worse with swelling and pain and they vein were also bulging, this was affecting my work. I thought I would have to give up my work, I have had a bit of time off with them.

I have had infection and more… I am so happy that I am here with Lynne and she is the only one that has helped me with my legs.

Doctors said they could do nothing for me… physio said they can’t help… I tried drugs. But that does not fix anything.

Lynne was the only one to find a way that works, finding what works and having her knowledge, stretching, light  weights, special moves I am now cured of my problem legs. All thanks to Lynne and her methods for me, also, I have lost weight, which has been a bonus. I am so enjoying what she has does for me.

Been coming to her for about 5 month and love it more. She has made me a happier person. And I can move more and I have come along way.

Thanks Lynne – Keep up the great work!

Nick Knuckey

I first met Lynne a month after my serious injury; I was determined to get better and find the strength to pick myself up. I was introduced to Lynne by friends who attended her personal training sessions.

Coming out of hospital, I had not yet been for physiotherapy, occupational therapy and did not want to wait any longer to try and get myself better, I had already been waiting a month for the health system to help me, so being the strong person that I am, I decided to take action for myself and embark upon on Lynne’s help. To this day, it is one of the moves I have ever made for myself.

My injuries were extreme, let me share my story with you…

I fell 1.5 m off a truck at work, straight down onto my head. I had concussion, stitches up the back of my fractured skull. I had a fractured shoulder and a pinched spinal cord.

My voice box was pushed over and out the side of my neck, in the fall. I had a spinal bone made for my neck from my hip.

I had a steel plate with screws placed into my neck and to hold my neck and spine and voice box in place. My voice box has been permanently moved to the side for the placing of the steel plate.

I could not swallow properly, it was very hard to swallow and I could not talk very well, if at all, I found it very hard to talk. I struggled for over 3-4 months to talk, it was exhausting.

My leg and foot dragged due to the nerve damage, my hands closed in and contracted. I had involuntary spasms, twitching all through the day and at odd times. I couldn’t sleep at night, as the twitching would happen when I went to sleep and again in the morning. I lost all strength in my arms, I couldn’t pick things up, without the support of the other hand. I could not roll up on my toe, my knee locked and my foot dragged. My shoulder drooped down and my neck fell to one side and I no longer stood up straight. My elbow would not straighten and I had no strength to hold a mug up to my mouth to drink.

When I met Lynne I was scared, fearful, anxious and nervous. I found Lynne with her friendly and open manner, warming and I thought I can be here and I can do this, without feeling intimidated and shy. Lynne was very professional and approachable.

At first we chatted about what I felt, what I could do, how long it took me to do daily chores in a day and what my stumbling blocks were. She started by teaching me to bend down and tie my shoes laces, using other muscles and without bending down and forward with my neck, as I couldn’t bend over at all, I could not have my neck come forward and down and I also struggled to hold my neck up.

I could not move my head from side to side in bed, or get up in the mornings, it was incredibly hard. Lynne made me a health tea each time we met, twice a week and she taught me how to lift my cup, use other muscle groups, not bringing my head and neck forward to the cup , but how to use my back, forcing me to keep my neck up and build the strength in my arm. Lynne made me, without fail, at every session drink and made me swallow to get my muscles working; my swallowing easier, I started to enjoy my tea.

Lynne is extremely knowledgeable, in all areas of health and exercise, she offered to write me 7 page document on what foods to eat to help me heal, long term goals, how to make life changes and stay motivated. I was bought healing creams and told what creams to use on my injured areas, how often to sleep, when to rest and how to deal with people when I felt pressured. She spoke to me about what to drink, supplements to take and even went shopping for me on her own free will, to get me slippers to put on, as it was difficult to tie my laces and she mentioned that my circulation would not be that great and that it was important to keep my feet warm for comfort and healing.

Lynne is most capable, knowledgeable and has a passion for health and she is one of the best movement specialists I have met. I was educated in self-help, and was overwhelmed at her kindness and how much she knows.

After learning to drink, Lynne started off by sitting me down on an exercise bench, showing me how to start rolling and stretching my neck slowly with and without the use of a small towel. Lynne helped to keep my neck muscles pulled back and upwards, so my head stopped stooping forward. I learnt to stretch my neck in a full stretch without being fearful.  Lynne massaged my neck and shoulder area jto release the tension of the muscles, which were tired and working hard.

I started with lifting my legs and arms one by one. I worked really hard at our flexions and extensions, the opening and closing of my hand and straightening of my elbow that kept bending. Lynne always knew what next to do to achieve great results and she started to stand up me up and to do exercises on steps and to walk up and down the stairs, Lynne taught me to go on up on my toe and to keep bending at my knee, until it became second nature and at the same time teaching me to rebalance.

I progressed to Lynne teaching me marching movements up and down her premises, teaching me to swing my arms and use my whole body, as I had started to become really small and close in with all my moves, my chest and shoulders started to roll inwards closing in my chest and Lynne knew that this would affect my breathing, so she made me walk lifting my head up and pulling back my shoulders using my back, stomach and glute muscles hard.

Using the body balance board I was scared, but Lynne was encouraging and I managed which built my self-confidence.  We did boxing, which helped me immensely with my balance, l learnt to use my core and my glute, which stopped me from falling over.

At the time, Lynne did a Counter Punch Parkinson’s certification, she made me do some great boxing moves, I even bought my own gloves. Lynne was right, the boxing, helped me to think, build up to concentrate for longer and to focus, as well as to use the power of my shoulder to help keep my strength up. I started with punching her hands, free of gloves and moved up to being able to enjoy the moves with more power, holding myself up strongly without falling forwards. I could now straighten my arm.

I then started to use hand weights, building up from a half kg to 1 and then 2 kg’s, doing back stretches and stomach moves, Lynne made me hold my arms up straight, she physically held my leg up and pushed it outwards, until I managed to do this on my own, as my knee and leg kept falling inwards and I kept dropping to the floor. Lynne kept holding me up and helping me up off the floor until I was able to achieve the ability to stand up on my own.

Lynne is one of the most experienced trainers I know, she is a movement and health specialist, with so much experience, she is way more than a physiotherapist, more than a fitness trainer, her ‘know how’ is astounding and she is an expert that shines brighter than any other I know in fitness, care and support.

Thank you Lynne, I still look forward to every session and I just love seeing how much stronger I get and daily.

Thank you again.

I met Lynne after someone mentioned her on Facebook, saying there is no better person around, as she had tried most of the larger commercial gyms.

I decided to message Lynne, her response was prompt and she was efficient with answering all my questions regarding the exercise sessions.

I think I am lucky enough to meet her as she is not only a professional trainer with safe and diverse positions, but also she is a positive, warm-hearted person cares our emotion and confidence. My body changed into a more strong and healthy status. Her teaching is focused, precise and I am never bored with her class.

I am glad I met her and I think I will keep sticking to her because I don’t want to give up a single lesson of her.

I’ve have experienced Lynne Scott, her persona and service, on two levels.

Firstly, I’ve been attending the Ladies’ Group sessions for several months and no two classes have ever been the same. The variety and structure of each class ensures us of a good all-body workout, which is always counterbalanced with a thorough stretch. Lynne’s instruction is clear and concise, explaining in detail the positioning of posture and muscle movement. While keeping the momentum of the class going, Lynne watches and corrects each person, when necessary, demonstrating her capacity to manage a class on all levels of capability. She ensures we work hard and we enjoy every moment …with some laughter thrown in the mix. Lynne’s engaging manner and sincere interest in each of her clients is admirable and that’s why we keep coming back for more.

The second level of my experience of Lynne is that of her taking on my 16-year old son, Matthew, for personal training. For many years, my son has been coping with a poor body image, low muscle tone, and borderline depression as a consequence of this, and other issues. With a downward spiral in his behaviour, I voiced my concern to Lynne in a plea for help. Her reaction was with utmost empathy and understanding of the situation. She’s devised a programme for Matthew including physical training and motivational coaching. With her compassion and drive, she has managed to break through Matthew’s apathy to exercising and, just in confidential chatting with him in sessions, she’s given him so much courage to face the teenage world. His muscle tone is improving, he’s lost weight and has gained so much confidence. Lynne has been a wonderful inspiration to Matthew in taking the first steps in the right direction. Lynne has embraced this challenge and we’re already reaping the benefits.

The knowledge Lynne imparts in training sessions is indicative of her expertise in health and physical training, and her passion for the well-being of others. I hold Lynne in the highest of regard and have so much admiration for her work ethic and energy. I can recommend her highly for any form of physical training and life coaching.

In 2013 I started exercising with Lynne. At the time I was looking for a group exercise class where the exercises were geared towards women that I could attend during the hockey off season. Not only did I find a very qualified person trainer who was passionate about health and wellbeing, I also found a trainer who cared for each and every client. During the classes she adapts each exercise to the client’s needs and ability. Lynne encourages each person individually and shares their success with them.

In 2016 I re-joined the exercise group as my goal had changed from wanting exercise in the off season to wanting to tone my body and build strength in my core. I had suffered from hamstring, back and glute injuries while playing hockey and I needed to strengthen these areas. I play Masters Hockey for North Harbour as well as New Zealand and I needed to overcome these injuries. Lynne has been able to support me on this journey. Her classes are designed to assist all women in looking and feeling their best as they age. I have found that slowly but surely I am regaining strength in the muscles which have been injured and my body shape is improving. During the hockey season I now attend one class a week and in the off season attend twice a week. Along with running my performance on the hockey field has improved and this can only be attributed to Lynne’s encouragement and guidance.

Open, Friendly and dedicated are thoughts that come to mind when I see Lynne.  I have been in her small group classes, twice a week ,  for over a year

I am in my late 40ies and play turf hockey at club and masters level, so I am fit, however I am lacking in strength, my hamstrings are tight and occasionally I battle with my calf muscles . Lynne has helped me focus on developing core strength, her attention to detail on how maximise the benefit from each exercise is very rewarding. She is very conscious of any injuries I may be carrying and tailors the class to suit.

Her choice of music is very upbeat and trendy and her friendly, warm personality makes each class  fun. I enjoy the combination of stretching, weights, Swiss ball and floor work – without the high impact  often found at other generic gyms. After Lynne’s class you leave feeling you have a achieved something and over time you will see the results in your body tone, flexibility and strength. Her classes compliment my hockey training, providing me with a holistic approach to my overall fitness and strength.

I appreciate the advice she gives during class regarding pelvic floor exercises and reminders to drink water. Having a class consisting of only ladies promotes sharing of concerns and discussions on remedies.

In Lynne I have found an awesome instructor to help me achieve my personal fitness goals, whilst having fun with a new group of likeminded ladies.

I started personal training with Lynne in August 2017. Before I went to personal training, I was afraid to go out in public without a jacket and long pants and never had a lot of self-confidence.

As soon as I started attending personal training, I found that I started to feel more awake and more confident. Lynne allowed me to feel comfortable to talk about what has been troubling me. I slowly began to feel better within myself and I’ve definitely lost weight, I feel fitter and better about myself, both inside and out. I am now able to walk out in public and stand tall instead of walking with my back slumped.

The things I enjoy the most about class is how easy it is to start a conversation with Lynne, and how there is and are no negative vibes during the class, I love how I can complete the tasks at a steady pace and be able to communicate with the trainer. Some days when I come back from school, I  think to myself, do I really want to go? But as soon as I come back from training I am glad that I did because I feel so much better.

Lynne has taught me a lot about nutrition and has always been full of praise and compliments on the effort I put into my training sessions. Lynne definitely helps with increasing my mood, as she is easy to talk to.

Alex Malcolm

Hi, my name is Alex. I started the Body Tonic Group around April 2017. My goals were to get fit and lose weight. However many more positive things have happened. When I started I could not get up off the floor, my balance was terrible and my stretching was awful, I had little flexibility and was very weak. All these things have changed.

Although I have not lost much weight, my body shape has changed and I can see things moving. I can now get up off the floor un-aided and I can go for longer with the exercises as I am now a lot fitter than when I started.

As an outdoor cricket umpire, gaining balance and being able to stand up un-aided is imperative, as is being fit and flexible, to enable me to get into the correct positions.

So thank you Lynne for all your help and guidance and I am sure that I will continue to come along after I have reached my goals and beyond.

This workout is much more than just a workout, I get a lot of therapy just by talking to Lynne with her positivity and I always finish feeling positive and refreshed.

I have been working with Lynne on a weekly basis for almost a year. In addition to being very knowledgeable in her field, Lynne quickly understood my goals and has continually provided advice and a varied program.

She uses a holistic approach, incorporating flexibility, strength, posture, balance and endurance. She is encouraging without being “soft”. She constantly motivates me to move through the difficult movements. Most importantly – she ensures I am doing the moves correctly and reinforces how it will benefit me.

The results have been significant. I am leaner, more toned and fitter than before. Sometimes after a hard days work I think it would be good to have a break but that thought goes once we get going and I feel a lot better at the end of the session.

I would strongly recommend Lynne as a personal trainer to anyone who is serious about improving their overall fitness and wellbeing.

Rosemary

Great news, great to hear, what a lovely letter to receive. I received this today from Rosemary Marks ― Testimonial for Lynne Scott my personal trainer who has her workout room in Torbay,
and is my group fitness trainer of The Body Tonic Group, in Glenvar Road Torbay, at The Long Bay Baptist Hall, on a Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7pm.

I have been attending personal training with Lynne for almost 4 months and I can not recommend her highly enough.
I never imagined that I would enjoy it so much and can honestly say that I really look forward to going for a session.
I had always imagined that personal training was something that you would have to endure and crawl out of at the end of the session. Lynne’s technique of teaching challenges me but never beyond my capabilities. In the time I have been working out with Lynne I have lost approximately 5 kilos and 17 cm in total with about 6 centimetres off my waist. I never knew that reshaping my body and losing weight could be so much fun!
Thank you so much Lynne.

Prior to joining the Body Tonic Group, I attended Boot Camp for a year – three mornings a week.  However, despite all the running and jumping (which I hated!) I saw no change to my body.  A friend inspired me to attend one of Lynne’s classes and I decided to give it a go.  The results speak for themselves.  Week-by-week my tape measure showed me that my body was changing and I could see that my body was becoming toned and stronger.  In total I lost 4 cm around my bust and 7cm each around my waist and hips.  I enjoy Lynne’s classes because she motivates me to do the exercises correctly and targets the muscles that matter! Lynne is an inspiration and her energy is contagious!

Towards the end of last year I read in the local Torbay Newsletter about Lynne Scott’s ‘Body Tonic Group’ and being handy to where I live I thought I would give it a try.  I have attended around 10 classes now and have really enjoyed the exercising to music.  Already I have started to feel the difference in strengthening my leg and arm muscles, and firming my tummy.  I love the way I am able to do most of the exercises, and the fact that Lynne caters to all of our needs regarding injuries and capabilities, AND remembers our names.

The group is varied in ages, shapes and sizes, if we are doing an exercise incorrectly, Lynne moves around the class encouraging and pushing us enough to make sure we get it correct and achieve the best results.  We have a lot of fun and many laughs and because of the relaxed, no pressure atmosphere everyone is friendly and enjoying themselves.

Outside of the classes, Lynne is totally committed and in regular contact with the ladies that she feels will further benefit from her experience and knowledge, all the time helping us with our health and fitness.  I have been to Lynn’s home for a one on one session and have been really impressed with her dedication and commitment.

I have no hesitation in recommending Lynn as a personal trainer and her group classes are affordable and as I have already said, ‘a lot of fun’.

Bernadette Bendall

I have attended Lynne Scott’s Body Tonic Group for the last two and half years.  I initially joined for the health benefits.  As I was finding I had a very sore shoulder from typing at my day job and slight dizziness.  I wanted to eliminate these before they escalated.  I found that the stretching and toning with the light weights improved my overall wellness immediately.  No more sore shoulders or slight dizziness.   I find the class’s fun and challenging.  You are able to push yourself to your capabilities.  Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced, your needs are catered for.  During the class Lynne will check to make sure that you are doing the exercises correctly, giving feedback when necessary.  The environment is friendly & relaxed, all the ladies who attend are welcoming.  I also love the music which is energetic and motivating.

Thanks Lynne for a fabulous class.

Debi Segetin

I have always hated exercise!  Until I started attending Lynne’s Body Tonic Group that is.

I’d tried all sorts of gyms and group exercise classes but hated every minute of it.  I would struggle along for a few times and then just quit.

What’s different about Lynne’s classes? So many things!

The classes are full of ladies only – a big plus for me – and there are always lots of laughs and shouts of ‘whoo hoo’ during the classes.

Lots of stretching and toning – classes are fun and that is the difference. That’s what keeps me coming back – for a year and a half now and no plans to quit! The hour of exercise goes by so fast and it feels like fun rather than exercise, although you can certainly feel muscles that have been used the next day.

The change in me is amazing. With attending classes twice a week and healthy eating I have lost 15 kilos – I have also lost too many inches to count and changed my whole body shape, I am a lot fitter and I am strong.  And I’m happier in myself.

I highly recommend coming along – you won’t regret it!

Thank you Lynne

I am writing this letter in my role as the Network Coordinator of DRIVE – Consumer Direction Counties Manukau, to endorse the services of Lynne Scott from Image Creation.

In June 2014, we contracted the services of Lynne to run 2 workshops for our networks. Lynne designed and delivered 2 workshops, one for women and one for the men. They were called “Executive Women: The Power Of Presentation” and “Executive Men: The Power Of Presentation”

I attended the workshop for men, along with 8 of my colleagues. We found the workshop very informative and relevant, as we learnt about topics ranging from skin care, hair care and styling, nutrition, exercise and wellbeing, as well as looking at wardrobe options and shopping tips etc. As blokes we don’t often openly share about these topics, and after we felt inspired to go home and have a look at our wardrobes, and review some of the choices we make about our appearance and self-care.

Lynne was a competent facilitator, and encouraged participation and interaction in a comfortable easy manner. I would recommend the services Lynne offers, and happily utilize her for future workshops should we get the chance.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information.

I have been attending Lynne’s ‘Body Tonic Group’ for 10 months. Lynne’s enthusiasm and support has been unwavering.

Initially I attended monthly personal training sessions as well as the large group sessions. I found the personal training sessions invaluable. I was taught how to execute the moves correctly so as to receive the maximum benefit within my limitations. Lynne was able to work around my health issues (diabetes, heart disease and arthritis of the knee and lower spine) All I learnt from Lynne during personal training I am able to carry over into the large group class – knowing that I have Lynne’s full support and I feel safe. It feels as if the exercise programme has been tailored to meet my individual needs but in fact it is all part of the Body Tonic Programme. Although there are many of us in the large group class we are all recognised as individuals with individual needs. Lynne is always aware of this and is able to guide and monitor all of us in the group thus creating a safe environment.

My strength and confidence has improved as has my overall health. I continue to attend two small group classes monthly as well as the regular large classes.

Lynne’s ability to really “teach” is what helps me enormously. From across the room she will explain, demonstrate, observe and correct us all. Lynne is always positive, encouraging, kind and extremely professional.

I was looking for a new exercise class as I had been going to a ‘boot camp’ style exercise group and found that I was getting very sore knees and a sore back from all the high intensity workouts.

I came across Lynne’s Body Tonic Group class on Facebook.  It is a local all ladies low impact group working on core strength which is what I am trying to build on.

I have been going for 3 weeks now, twice weekly, and am already noticing the difference.

Lynne and the ladies in the group are super friendly and welcoming which was really nice as I always find it hard starting a new class.

Lynne took the time to talk to me about any problem areas and although we are in a group class, she is always making sure I am doing the exercises correctly and adjusts the moves for me as needed.

I found one of the exercises was causing me pain in my hip and when I talked to Lynne about this, she took the time to go through the move and gave me an alternative exercise to do.

She does this for all the ladies and it amazes me how she remembers all of our individual needs during our workouts and makes sure everyone is working correctly within their ability.

The classes have lots of variety and are great fun and I am looking forward to mastering my balance on that Swiss ball.

Thank you Lynne

Lynne’s classes are very good. It’s an easy hour of my day to commit to becoming more toned, fit and healthy.

The class consists of a varying age group of lovely ladies. All very friendly and positive. Lynne provides yoga mats, balls, and weights. The music is great, and it’s a non-judgemental environment. I always drive home feeling happy, refreshed and motivated.

Lynne is kind and supportive, dedicated to the success of everyone in the class. She provides informative tips on which areas of the body to focus on in certain exercises, and corrects technique as we go.

Yes, it does require commitment and effort, we all puff and sweat, but it is the best way to shake the fat, and feel muscles you never knew you had, all while slimming down, and enjoying yourself. It’s worth it!

I am 30, and my mother, who is 68, encouraged me to join this exciting class. Not only have we met people who are as like-minded as ourselves to improve our health and well-being through exercise, we have made new friends.

I have had back, shoulder and neck problems for many years now due to over reactive muscles which cause me to get migraines. I came to the Body Tonic group as a last resort as I had previously tried a range of things (Acupuncture, Muscular massage, Reflexology) but nothing made a big enough difference, they all seemed to help in the short term but weren’t a long term solutions.

I also tried Zumba in the hope that getting more exercise would help but I was so busy trying to keep up with the class I ended up giving myself more injuries as it was too impactful. I didn’t enjoy the vibe of the class either as the majority of people were very clicky , it was more of a “look at me” atmosphere.

When I found Body Tonic I gave Lynne a call and told her about my muscular issues and she was able to give me some tips for the class (“Go at your own pace, don’t push yourself too soon as it will take time”)

I haven’t been going to Body Tonic for long but started to feel the difference after the 2nd session. My shoulder muscles started releasing and I can feel I’ve got stronger since I started. I really enjoy the class (so do my muscles) as there is lots of stretching and strengthening with no impact.

Lynne is great at giving you tips throughout the class and really looks out for her client’s wellbeing. The atmosphere is also great with a range of ladies attending and supporting each other, I’ve even started making friends J.

I am now pregnant and am carrying on with Body Tonic as pregnancy puts the body through different stresses and strains that my muscles would struggle to deal with otherwise. Lynne has been great at keeping an eye on me during the class and suggesting different exercises for me to do as alternatives for some of the exercises the others are doing.

I would recommend this class to anyone wanting a good friendly workout where you can tone up, loose weight and make friends all in one place!

I didn’t know where to start this when I started typing, but I was sure I will find the words that would easily get the ‘thank you’ across. This is how it works for me. Fingers spread out on my keyboard and words start flowing. The feeling is beautiful. And it has a background score too. Remember we were once talking about typewriters and keyboards and stuff? Well, I don’t usually talk about these things to everyone but here it is, I love mechanical keyboards. I. Just. Love. Mechanical. Keyboards. That click clack machine-gun sound while things in your head start boarding the train on the screen in front of you, that’s like music for your soul. I bought this Razer Razer Blackwidow 2013 last year and its been clicking clacking soul music for me ever since. And the good thing is, this keyboard gets better and better with age. Its like that centuries old wine.

Oh, look I digress, and how! Hehe. The reason I am writing this mail is to thank you, thank you for everything you’ve done for me. When I started my career 1 year back I thought, my back aches were just a temporary thing due to a bad chair or probably my sitting posture. I remember how the first time I told you about my back aches. “I am 6 feet tall, so I think my sitting posture is not thaaaat straight as it should be. That’s why I guess I get these backaches once in a week or so in the last session at office. I do push ups etc since a month now. Can you please suggest me some stretches?” Lynne, I was under the impression that you will tell me a couple of stretches and I will try them for a week and go back to taking pain killers and stay on meds. Yep! I can be hopeless like that. But you went on pin pointing the exact problem with my spine, saying, I need to round the spine and stretch it as the vertebrae is being compressed and the stomach is rounding and the bladder and lower pelvic area is being compressed sitting too much, I knew this was something which I didn’t know when I started thinking about my back aches. And believe me, I instantly believed in you, because finally it was making sense to me. It can be common sense for you, Lynne, because you’ve been into this since decades. It was new for me. Young guy into corporate world, I didn’t think I could have health issues because I always thought health issues were for elderly people, I will have them when I am old and wrinkly, I am still young and pretty much beaming with radiant hot blood. (Lol! Naive right? Yes, it was.)

I started doing those stretches. Three times a day with feet and legs hip width apart and straight forward, hands placed onto bent knees, hands facing forward, fingers inwards towards the knees. Pulling in the stomach rounding the back, tucking the chin in and rounding spine up, holding for the count of 8 and relaxing down again. Repeating this for 3 sets of 8. When you round the back and pull your chin in you need to think about your naval and pull your naval toward your lower back. This way you know you are doing the movement correctly. It was the first stretch you told me to do. Within 2 days the pain subsided. Within a week it was as good as the backache was packing the bags for a voyage away from me.

I started lying down on the floor, flat, lift the leg up straight and holding it for the count of 2x sets of 8 on both legs. Within a month, the backache was gone. Now I am doing all the stretches you told me to do so far. Some of them were a little complicated to understand because the medium of our communication was writing letters to each other online, but I studied each of the stretch you told me, cause I didn’t wanna do anything wrong and further mess everything up. After a bit of practice I could do them all.

I love doing the stretches. I love it how at the end of the day I am never tired now. I feel so full of energy and positive thoughts. I feel blessed with good things around me. I don’t know how this connects but feeling healthy kinda gets your mind stable. A healthy mind leads to a healthy way of living. It leads to greater awareness. The aim of life is to live and to me to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware. And healthy body and mind are imperative to achieve that

Thank you for teaching me so many moves and stretches Lynne, thank you for sharing the things you have spent your lifetime learning and helping others with. I follow all your exercises, the one’s to do at the desk in office, the one’s to do at home and I love all your health tips that you write to me and find them illuminating. Though like I always tell you, why don’t you record the videos as well? I would totally love to see you explaining these things one by one and rolling out the magic 🙂 The energy and life you bring in conversations really made these things easier for me bring into my day to day life. Otherwise I would have missed out on having a healthy back, which is the most important and ignored part of the entire body.

I have been sharing these things with my friends IRL as well as online. And they are really excited to make an acquaintance with you.

Thank you Lynne.

Stay blessed. Hamesha(Hindi word for ‘always’)!

Lots of love and more power to you.

I started coming to Lynne for personal training after I developed back issues and constant pain. I knew I needed to exercise but didn’t know where to go. I have done the gyms and home training DVD’s but my greatest fear was making my condition worse. With two small children to keep up with, I acted on the recommendation of my sister, who attends Lynne’s  ‘Body Tonic’ Group.

I was still very apprehensive about starting, all of my previous experiences had conditioned me to think that gym instructors were mainly concerned with pushing you to your limit and strutting around barking orders at you.

I was surprised to see that Lynne does each and every move with you and corrects any errors in position or placement of your body. The difference was amazing. When she says “can you feel it right here” you know you have the spot.

I had never been taught with that degree of attention on how to place your body to avoid injury and get awesome results.

Lynne has a holistic approach and looks at your body as a ‘whole’. Even if you just want to firm up your tummy, Lynne teaches you that to have good core strength you need a good foundation – your feet! That was news to me, I have never exercised my feet with such precise movements and wow what a difference. I got my balance back!

Lynne treats each and every client with the same dedication and passion, and you become firm friends through the journey with her. All of ‘Lynne’s Ladies’ are like family and the amount of time and effort I have seen her put in ‘behind the scenes’ to fully understand each person’s injury or condition is truly impressive and sets her apart for anyone else I have ever encountered.

I would not hesitate to recommend Lynne and regularly do. I would trust her with my life and that is what she has given back to me – quality of life.
